I recently presented a paper on South African documentary filmmaking at a graduate conference, Crossing Places, at the University of Nottingham. Crossing Places is an interdisciplinary conference for graduate students researching topics concerned with Africa. Research-related activities: I formed a small not-for-profit arts company, Stop and Stir Arts Ltd, last year with the intention of organising an African film festival in Edinburgh, due to take place in October 2006. The festival is called Africa in Motion (AiM), and the website has just been launched—www.africa-in-motion.org.uk. Research trips: I undertook a research trip to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in February 2005, to attend FESPACO, the biggest festival of African film in the world. Look at some pictures of the trip in the photo gallery. |
