Funnel Vision!

Having been born not very long before steam locomotives were finally withdrawn from service I obviously don't remember seeing any at work, and in fact have never seen any at work in industrial use either despite being a teenager when the last of these finished up. So it was almost inevitable that having an interest in railways I would like diesels, and of course I do! However, unlike some enthusiasts who do not remember steam outside of preservation, I have always like railways of all kinds and have never seen a reason not to take an interest in steam locomotives given the chance to see any, and this will always be the case.

As a result, I have taken both pictures and camcorder footage of steam locomotives at various time over the years, and have created this section of my virtual photo album to display a selection of them.

A Railway Is (Officially) Born!

The first time I ever witnessed the official opening of a railway was the day in 1981 when I attended The Opening Day Of The Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway

Once Upon A Time In The Highlands!

It wasn't my first visit there, and wasn't my last, but my trip to The Strathspey Railway In July 1981 was one of the most interesting!

Blue Peter Back In Fife

Not exactly a stranger to Fife, but these days more of an occasional visitor! Captured images from the day I saw Blue Peter Back In Fife

Hogwarts Express At Carstairs

An ECS with a difference! The steam train in these pictures came north into Scotland early in 2003 for a date with the film-makers at Glenfinnan Viaduct, but I heard about it in advance and got to see the Hogwarts Express At Carstairs

Fort William Steam ECS Passing Coatbridge

Another ECS, and going to the same place too! But this time, a (slightly) more routine working as I saw the annual Fort William Steam ECS Passing Coatbridge

Meet Tornado!

At the end of February 2009, the newest express main line locomotive in Britain visited Scotland for the first time. And amazingly it was a steam locomotive! See my pictures from the day Tornados Scottish Debut!

Having made it's debut in Scotland, and made it right though into Fife for good measure, Tornado stayed up here for a week, but all too soon it was time for me to go and see Tornado Leaving Fife For The First Time!
