MPE 29 - AMS295B

In 1995 I was lucky enough to be able to buy this vehicle which was converted from a bus that used to be owned by Alexanders Midland and which was based for a few years at Alloa bus garage, which was my local garage at the time. This section contains esnaps & vsnaps of MPE29, almost all taken since I bought it.

In The Beginning

MPE29 had a long (31-year) and hard-working (I'm sure) career before I bought it, and I would like to show you pictures from those years. Alas I have only traced two pictures so far, and only have one scanned (the other is in a book). Here is the mid-80s picture.

Taking Delivery

Buying MPE29 from Kelvin Central/Strathclyde Buses was fairly easy - but it was stored at the former Midland bus garage at Kirkintilloch and had to be moved almost immediately! Fortunately it was in full working order so here is the inside story on Driving MPE29 To Fife !

Seeing Red

After getting MPE29 to Methil we spent some time repairing body damage, and other work (during what was a bitter winter). By the spring of 1996 it was time to paint it, and we chose Fife livery. Here are some pictures of MPE29 in Fife Colours, taken just after it was painted.

Putting 'Fife' On

Once painted, MPE29 didn't look quite right in Fife colours without a company name. So we got appropriate vinyls and spent a morning Putting 'Fife' On !
