Rapier At Methil

A short set of 3 pictures showing MDE238/8/11 soon after it arrived at Methil.

1. I took this picture just after the Rapier arrived at Methil - as you can see, it looked terrible!

2. We started by painting the jib and the bodywork, and one of my friends can be seen here painting the cab door, complete with restored BR logo and number. (He has the steady hand required for painting round such things!)

3. The last esnap in this set is from 1996 and is included because it (just) shows the back of the Rapier crane on the extreme right of the picture (along with MPD253 & MPE29). A reasonable amount of work had been done during late 1995 and the summer of 1996, but the Rapier was still not in working order when this was taken. Incidentally, the tall crane jib belongs to a 1960 Coles crane owned by the person in the last picture, and is another fine machine, even if it isn't yet featured in the J-Files!!!
